Eye Miss Tokyo Everyday I’m struck by the wonderful/disturbing dichotomy of this city: the progress/stagnation, the efficiency/inflexibility, the cultural wealth/bankruptcy. I’m overwhelmed by the new: How ingenious! How monstrous! I’m awed by the ancient: How beautiful! How tragic! (Eye) Miss Tokyo. These videos explore, exhibit and distort Japanese pop-culture, fetish, race and gender stereotypes, orientalism and occidentalism, identity (mis)perception, hyper-commercialism, and cultural and aesthetic disparity. Footage was shot in Tokyo as well as drawn from the web and other commercial sources.
Everything Will Be Fine is a compilation of digital video shorts (using a variety of techniques) exploring the failure of news media, political spin, alienation, mass culture, impending disaster, subversion of subcultures by the establishment, humour and other daily diversions which help us (and desperately compel us) to believe that Everything Will Be Fine.
